The mission of On the Same Team is simple:

On the Same Team provides information on special education law to families and
educators, so that they can  collaborate in the development of optimal special education
programming for children with special needs.

On the Same Team is not about "parents winning" or "schools winning."  On the Same
Team
is about the child winning.

Through this organization, Maureen Lowry-Fritz, J.D., M.A. provides special education law
information and services to both families and schools.  She helps IEP Teams develop and
foster cooperative and professional relationships between
parents and educators, so that they
may work together to create appropriate special education programming.

At
On the Same Team, we believe that an I.E.P.should be more than an Individualized.
Education. Plan.  It should be a tool that unlocks
Infinite.  Educational.  Possibilities. for
our special children.

IEP Teams are best positioned to create such powerful documents when each member
commits to forging partnerships with the others.

No one has to lose in order for the child to win.

That is why we're all in this "game."

And that is why we're
On the Same Team.
About Us
Parents, you are already experts on your child.  Now it is time to become
knowledgeable about special education law and how it affects your child.  It is
also time to understand the educators' perspective, and how you can collaborate
with them to create an appropriate educational program for your child.

Educators, you are already experts in your domain, be it regular education,
special education, speech and language, occupational therapy, social work,
physical therapy, administration or psychology.  Now it is time to learn about
special education law and how it affects your students.  It is also time to
understand the parents' perspective, and how you can incorporate their insight
into your students' IEPs.
Who ever said that special education has to involve a
"fight" between parents and schools?

I am a special education lawyer, and the mother of a child with special needs.
Through my personal and professional experience, I have learned that the child
is
best served when parents and educators act as partners.

Parents and educators
can and should work together in a collaborative manner to
develop appropriate educational programs for children with special needs.  As members
of an  IEP Team, we are
partners!  We should work together to develop appropriate
IEPs that incorporate the wisdom and experience of each team member.

On the Same Team is an organization for parents and professionals who believe that special
education is a
team effort based upon an equal partnership between home and school.

On the Same Team is for those parents and professionals who
believe that more
UNITES us than divides us.

We all play
On The Same Team!
